Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy utilized for applications that need corrosion and high temperature resistance. This alloy is designed for use from cryogenic to elevated temperatures in the range of 2000 deg F(1093 deg C). Inconel 600 has exceptional mechanical properties, and offers a blend of high strength and efficient weldability under various temperatures. The high levels of nickel in Inconel 600 retain significant resistance under reducing conditions. That makes it resistant to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking as well as alkaline solutions. Inconel is used in various industries such as Chemical, Pulp and Paper, Aerospace, Nuclear Engineering and Heat treating industries.

Its chromium content gives the alloy resistance to sulfur compounds and a range of oxidizing environments. The chromium content makes it superior to commercially pure nickel in oxidizing conditions. Inconel 600 is comparatively unharmed by the majority of neutral and alkaline salt solutions and is used in a number of caustic environments. Inconel 600 resists steam as well as mixtures of steam, air and carbon dioxide.

Distinctive corrosion applications comprise titanium dioxide production, perchlorethylene syntheses, vinyl chloride monomer , and magnesium chloride. Iconel 600 is employed in chemical and food processing, heat treating, phenol condensers, soap manufacture to name a few.

Iconel 600 is non-magnetic, has brilliant mechanical properties and a blend of superior strength and excellent workability. It exhibits cold forming characteristics usually associated with chromium-nickel stainless steels.

Minimise level of attack occurs at room and elevated temperatures in dry gases, such as chlorine or hydrogen chloride.

At temperatures up to 550C in these media, it is one of the most resistant amongst common alloys.

Incoloy 600 temperature ranges between 1600° to 2250°F (870° to 1230°C). Light work can be done at 1600°F (870°C) and heavy work range should be in between 1900° and 2250°F (1040° and 1230°C). In the annealed condition, this alloy perform balanced yield strength of 25,000 to 50,000 psi (172 to 345 MPa). Yield strength with elongations of 55% to 35%, Inconel 600 can be fabricated easily.
